Norfolk works for you.
NORFOLK WORKS, launched in December 2016. It is designed to align economic and workforce development efforts, champion the recruitment of diverse Norfolk talent to support business attraction, retention and expansion, and collaborate with our workforce partners to help Norfolk citizens prepare for and connect to in-demand employment opportunities.
To accomplish its goals, Norfolk Works has three branches:
- Norfolk Works’ Job Resource Center located at 100 Bank St. Norfolk
- Business Services offered through Norfolk’s Department of Economic Development in the areas of: recruiting, training, and hiring incentives.
- The Norfolk Workforce Investment Network (WIN) – a system of local, regional, and state service providers working to bring the full capability of the workforce system to bear to help meet the needs of job seekers and businesses.

Norfolk Works for Businesses
NORFOLK WORKS is the workforce development arm of the Norfolk Department of Economic Development.
We offer assistance in the areas of recruiting, training, and hiring incentives to help you find and hire the talent you need for your business to thrive.
NORFOLK WORKS CAN:
- Connect businesses to new talent pools: colleges, workforce centers, transitioning military – over 10 unique sources of Norfolk talent
- Create and host networking events, job fairs, and hiring events
- Promote job openings
- Assist with diversity hiring initiatives
- Research and provide Labor Market Information (LMI), i.e. wage information, salary comparisons, etc.
- Connect with our talent partners to:
- Deliver a large number of potential candidates to your organization
- Identify monetary hiring and training incentives and provide technical guidance (local, state, and federal incentives)
