Tidewater Community College’s Job Skills Training Program (JSTP) recently held a graduation ceremony for the pilot class of WeldNOW. WeldNOW is a new, innovative mobile welding lab concept, that has been added alongside the existing DriveNOW CDL-B partnership training program. Both training opportunities prepare students to enter into new careers.
Participants earned an industry credential in welding recognized by the American Society of Welding that can be used to gain entry-level shipyard and advanced manufacturing jobs that involve welding.
The WeldNOW partnership is being spearheaded by Tidewater Community College and Norfolk Works and is in collaboration with the lab’s inaugural host, Lyon Shipyard.
The mobile welding classes are free for qualifying participants. Please call Norfolk Works for more information: (757) 763-6064
