2022 Economic Development Week

Economic development is the intentional practice of improving a community’s economic well-being and quality of life. It includes a broad range of activities to attract, create, and retain jobs, and to foster a resilient, pro-growth tax base and an inclusive economy. The practice of economic development comprises of a collaborative effort involving industry, government, and many community stakeholders. This week, May 9-13th, we will be making daily posts showcasing some of the Department’s achievements to celebrate Economic Development Week.

The City of Norfolk has long been recognized as a key Mid-Atlantic seaport and a vibrant cosmopolitan center. Over the years, it has also earned a reputation for being a great place to live, work, and play. Our Community Profile, which was given out during this year’s State of the City, provides an overview of everything that Norfolk is today and what it has to offer for residents and businesses.
